Ready to Flip?

Are you Ready To Flip?

Today is the 2nd of July...the 1st official business day of the 2nd half of 2012.  That's a mouthful...

The bottom-line?
It's time to check in before the calendar flips.

By this time of year, there are typically three things that have changed the landscape from your initial strategic marketing planning.  They are:
  1. Budget changes: better or worse than projected performance in income and expense.
  2. Strategic shifts: new competitors, economic changes, unforeseen strategy changes.
  3. Opportunity: new products, new pricing, new targeting, new information.
Each of these items represents a potential hurdle and certainly mean plan changes.  HOW you attack each one will mean the difference between maximum success and reactive chaos.

What is your choice?    We hope Maximum Success!

As you prepare for the 2nd half of 2012 there are several key steps that you should take to ensure the last six months of the year measure up to expectations and help you reach your goals. Here are the Top 5 actions to take BEFORE the 4th of July break...
  1. Update your STRATEGIC PLAN status.
  2. Prepare your COMMUNICATION to the entire organization on the 1st half marketing results.
  3. Make a LIST of the THREE biggest obstacles to reaching your 12/31 goals.
  4. Generate an ROI estimate for all major upcoming activities and prep the team!
  5. Create a list of MODIFICATIONS for the 2nd half of 2012.
With this Top 5 list in hand...you are prepared to FLIP the calendar to the 2nd half of 2012 and hit the ground running toward a successful summit of your 12/31 goals!

Appreciate yourself

There are certain things in life that just give you that "fulfilled" feeling. Times were you think that it can't get any better than this. Like having a child, getting married, owning your first brand new car, or winning an award.

Times like that don't have to go by so infrequently. They don't need to only be "special occasions". What do you get up in the morning for? Why do you do what you do? Today can be the perfect day to reflect on your life, your values and goals. Personally, I am not thankful enough for the things I have or for those who love me. That is why I have to take a pause from time-to-time and appreciate the things I DO have, the satisfaction my life HAS brought. I love my family, I love my job, I am grateful for all of my possessions. In my eyes I am blessed with a great life. Sure there are things I wish I could change, nothing is perfect. But its not about perceived perfection, it is about being positive and realizing how much life you DO have and the things you DO enjoy.

Think about the things you have, the places you've been, the successes you have celebrated. Don't take what you've earned in life for granite. Give your spouse a kiss and your kids a hug, call a friend or relative just to tell them you are grateful for them. Heck, go make a piece of toast and appreciate that you have the ability to put that bread in the toaster. Take a moment...appreciate yourself! Everyday is a day to celebrate something.

Until next time,
Jeremy

"B" Successful Today and Tomorrow

Do you ever wonder what makes someone successful? Here are 5 qualities that I often see in successful people.

1. Be smart - know what you need to do and get it done. Put the time in to complete the project, meet the deadline and your work will show your effort.

2. Be responsible - be trustworthy. Keep your obligations, stand for what you believe in, know when to apologize. You will become a confidant for those around you.

3. Be positive - look on the bright side. Find the positive in every situation. Before you know it your attitude will begin to rub off on others.

4. Be pro-active - make things happen. Know the facts and be willing to take the first step. Others will start to look to you when decisions need to be made.

5. Be kind - to everyone. It doesn't matter if they are in the mailroom, the call center or the corner office. You will need their help at some point.

Find your purpose in life. Once you have found that purpose you can work towards fulfilling it. This is something that sets successful people apart.

Some people dream of success... while others wake up and work hard at it. - Author Unknown

Monday, Monday...

Good morning financial marketers...

In the spirit of Robin Williams in "Good Morning Vietnam", I share a hearty greeting!

IT'S MONDAY...

I have been reading Roxanne Emmerich's book entitled, "Thank God its Monday!"  A really good read!  The premise is building a team and environment that is the most conducive to success as possible.

So, I ask you to look around your office and institution...1st at yourself.  Are you excited to come to work on Monday?  Full of energy and ideas?  YOU have to be the emotional leader...

If you are coming in excited and ready to go...your team will, too!

I know we have all heard of "walk the walk and talk the talk", it is true!  People watch and make notes of the exec's leadership style and actions. Everything matters!  If we don't follow-thru, soon our staff will take that same cue and slow their efforts, too.  We ALL need to working toward the same goal and we have to be the lead.

Look for more ideas and thoughts about focusing your team and creating and environment that welcomes Mondays!

Cheers!
